Root the Wish
See it. Bind it. Walk it.
What will I choose
A wish left in the air stays a wish — the old instinct and the research agree on that. Picturing the happy ending, on its own, quietly relaxes the body that was supposed to go get it. What moves a wish is roots: a clear picture, a named obstacle, a bound plan, a rehearsed first step.
Root the Wish is the first arc of Inner Work — nine rooms where choice lives — and this page walks its heart: three rooms, in order. Each room stands whole on its own — the research behind each one lives on its page — but walked together they make one shape: see it, bind it, walk it. No account, no cost, and nothing you write ever leaves your device. Days can pass between rooms; the path keeps.
The Hope Room
About 20 minutes, worth repeating.
Write the version of your life, a few years out, where things have gone as well as they realistically could — present tense, ordinary Tuesday included. Not perfect. Possible. This is where the wish shows itself: somewhere in that picture is the one thing worth rooting.
The Working
About 15 minutes.
Take one wish from that picture — one line, one season you can name. Feel its outcome fully and briefly, then turn and face the obstacle in you, and bind it to a plan in the tested shape: if this moment, then I will that. The binding is the root.
The Rehearsal Room
About 15 minutes — repeat as the day gets close.
Now rehearse the doing, not the trophy: the steps in order, the moment it wobbles, the recovery, the first minute word for word. A path walked in the mind wears in — and this is the walking.
Rooted things are tended, not finished. Come back: revise the binding when the obstacle changes shape, add to the picture rather than starting over, rehearse again closer to the day. A wish that is seen, bound, and walked — and then tended — is a wish with roots.
If a Deck Is in Your Hands
None of this requires one. Every room is whole on its own, free, and stays that way.
But cards are good at asking questions, and if one of ours — or any deck you love — is on your table, here are three ways to walk the path with it:
- The Celestial Tarot, before the Hope Room. Draw one card and sit with its light meaning — printed on the card’s face — then let it walk into the picture you write. The card doesn’t decide the future; it opens a door into it. The Celestial Tarot, in the shop.
- The Animal Oracle, at The Working’s third movement. Draw a companion when you reach the obstacle. Its medicine names a strength you carry; its shadow signal asks where to look. The card doesn’t name your obstacle for you — it asks better questions until you can. The Animal Oracle, in the shop.
- The Reset Keys, in the Rehearsal Room. If the thing coming is a journey, the eight Before keys are rehearsal in card form — one plain, doable instruction each, ready to drop straight into your walk-through. The Reset Key deck, in the shop.
This path is free and always will be. All the rooms of Inner Work are here.
